Julie’s Bicycle moves in with the MCPS-PRS Alliance
The MCPS-PRS Alliance is proud to announce its partnership with Julie’s Bicycle, to reduce carbon footprint.
Julie’s Bicycle is a group of like-minded people from across the music industry passionate about climate change and determined to make a difference.
The MCPS-PRS Alliance has joined the Working group which will preside over an industry-wide framework for carbon measurement and energy reduction and is providing accommodation to the Julie’s Bicycle team at its main office in London. The MCPS-PRS Alliance has also embarked its own audit of carbon emissions.
Steve Porter, MCPS-PRS Alliance Chief Executive said: ‘I am committed to the Alliance becoming a more responsible corporate organisation and am really excited to be working with Julie’s Bicycle on our approach to the environment as part of our overall CSR goals. It is important that we add our support and that of the music creators and music users to spreading the message of climate change and raising awareness on the ways in which we can all reduce our individual and collective carbon footprints. ‘Being able to provide accommodation to the Julie’s Bicycle team is an added bonus and demonstrates our commitment to supporting this cause and the music industry community.’
Alison Tickell, Director of Julie’s Bicycle said: ‘We are really glad to be working closely with the Alliance; the community of creators that it represents, as well as the broader family that works under Berners Street roofs, represent the life force for the industry. This is a turning – not tipping – point for climate change and our industry. Our close partnership with pivotal organisations including the Alliance give the whole community an opportunity to make a significant difference.’

The MCPS-PRS Alliance
MCPS and PRS are the not-for-profit UK collecting societies that ensure composers, songwriters and publishers are paid royalties when their music is used: from live performance to TV and radio, CDs to DVDs, downloads, streams and everything in between. Royalties create a future for music by supporting creators while they continue to write. MCPS and PRS are committed to delivering maximum royalties and world-class service. They work together in an operational alliance to get the best value for the music use of composers and songwriters everywhere. www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk
Julie’s Bicycle
Julie’s Bicycle was formed in April 2007 by a group of people concerned about climate change who wanted to understand the implications of energy reduction in the UK music industry, and identify solutions that would be achievable and effective. It is a not-for-profit company (charitable status pending), bringing together the music industry to galvanize our considerable strengths and come up with positive solutions to tackle the impacts of climate change in the context of a thriving business. Julie’s Bicycle is made up of senior creative industry executives and climate change experts. The organisation combines projects and events with research to underpin strategic and business solutions for a climate positive future.
