Key music industry figures come to Wrexham
Musicians and budding music entrepreneurs are to be offered a valuable insight into how they can improve their earnings, thanks to the music industry’s Note for Note roadshow rolling into Wrexham on 11 October 2007.
Anybody who has ever wondered what a music publisher does, how to collect royalties for music, or what is involved in setting up a record label, can ask representatives from some of the UK’s key music industry organisations during a free evening roadshow.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from each organisation, have access to drop-in surgeries for one-to-one information and the chance to network at the end of each day.
Note for Note has been put together and brought to you by the following organisations : AIM, BPI, The MCPS-PRS Alliance, MPA, PPL and Government department UK Trade & Investment, in association with the Welsh Music Foundation.
Phil Patterson from the UKTI said: ‘The Note for Note roadshow brings a wonderful wealth of knowledge and expertise about the Music Industry to each city it visits and it provides the opportunity for people from all parts of the music industry to come together and share in that knowledge and ask the questions they've always wanted to.
‘Music is a hugely important part of British culture and the Music Industry is a significant contributor to our economy with an annual turnover of over £5bn. We are delighted to be bringing the roadshow to Wrexham to help increase the level of music business coming from the regions.’

PPL - PPL is the London-based UK music industry service company which licenses recorded music on behalf of over 3,500 record companies and 40,000 performers. The company collects domestic and international broadcast/new media revenues and public performance income which is then distributed and paid to its record company and performer members. These include featured artists as well as all session musicians, ranging from, for example, orchestral players to percussionists and to singers. PPL is a not-for-profit company, acting as it does for and on behalf of all its members. All income, after running costs, is distributed amongst the member companies and performers whose tracks have been either broadcast or played in public.
