Note for Note Roadshow –
the music industry explained

The UK music industry will descend upon Brighton on Thursday 17 May 2007, in association with the Great Escape Festival. Representatives of key national music industry organisations and some of the UK’s most influential and experienced industry professionals will run a half day session, as part of the newly named Note for Note Roadshow.

The roadshow is a valuable chance for experienced and start-up businesses to receive a rare inside scoop on the music industry and a chance to learn about the latest developments and issues from both a domestic and international perspective. Its aim is to educate and support individuals who wish to be part of the creative economy in a rapidly changing environment.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from each organisation, have access to drop-in surgeries for one-to-one information and the chance to network at the end of each day.

Note for Note has been put together and brought to you by the following organisations: AIM, BPI, The MCPS-PRS Alliance, MPA, PPL and UKTI. Guest speakers will include Michael Fuller (AIM), Jon Webster (BPI), Linda Hindmarsh (MCPS), Nick Chambers (PPL), Nigel Elderton (MPA) and Malcolm Buckland (PRS).

Note for Note attendees are also invited to take part in a Brighton Music Network ‘Funding Music’ Seminar, hosted by the Great Escape festival.

The roadshow is supported locally by government organisation UK Trade & Investment. More Note to Note roadshows are planned for 2007 across the UK.

Phil Patterson from the UKTI said: ‘The Note for Note road show brings a wonderful wealth of knowledge and expertise about the Music Industry to each city it visits and it provides the opportunity for people from all parts of the music industry to come together and share in that knowledge and ask the questions they've always wanted to.

‘Music is a hugely important part of British culture and the Music Industry is a significant contributor to our economy with an annual turnover of over £5bn. We are delighted to be bringing the roadshow to Brighton to help increase the level of music business coming from the regions.’
