Note for Note Roadshow –
the music industry explained

Musicians and budding music entrepreneurs are to be offered a valuable insight into how they can improve their earnings, thanks to the music industry’s Note for Note Roadshow rolling into Inverness for goNorth on Friday 8th June 2007.

Anybody who has ever wondered what a music publisher does, how to collect royalties for music, or what is involved in setting up a label, can ask representatives from some of UK’s the key organisations in the business during a half day roadshow.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from each organisation, have access to drop-in surgeries for one-to-one information and the chance to network at the end of each day.

Note for Note has been put together and brought to you by the following organisations: AIM, BPI, The MCPS-PRS Alliance, MPA, PPL and is supported locally by government organisation UK Trade & Investment.

Guest speakers will include Michael Fuller (AIM), Jon Webster (BPI), Duncan McCrone (MCPS), Nick Chambers (PPL), Mark Anders (MPA) and Stuart Fleming (PRS).

Phil Patterson from the UKTI said: ‘We are here to help explain how to make money from your music. Go North is such a wonderful event, we thought it was an ideal opportunity to come and do this presentation.’

Iain Hamilton from Highlands & Islands Enterprise [HIE] Creative Industries Manager said: ‘Many musicians are understandably focused on making and recording music, but even knowing a little about what these different industry bodies do, could help keep them afloat financially. Anybody interested in working in the music industry can also get an idea of many of the different areas of the business.’
