DUNDEE PUB WINS AWARD AS SCOTLANDS TOP MUSIC PUB
The Doghouse in Dundee has successfully competed against pubs across Scotland to win the PRS-sponsored Music Pub of the Year Award.
Held annually, the PRS Music Pub of the Year Award is one of several accolades given out during the Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN) Awards to reward excellence in the licensed trade industry. The award ceremony took place last night at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
Judges have commended The Doghouse for supporting and providing an excellent venue for up and coming bands.
The Doghouse provides new local bands the opportunity to not only perform in front of a crowd but with a place to rehearse. In the early days of their music career The View made The Doghouse their second home and they go back there from time to time to play impromptu gigs.
On receiving the PRS Music Pub of the Year Award owner Sarah Hill said:
'I'm ecstatic to have won this award. I feel like I’ve won it for everyone; the bands, the staff and Dundee. I couldn't have done it without them; they have all been part of this.
‘Music is the life and soul of the business. I love helping new bands and allowing them to develop in The Doghouse; it what makes us different to other pubs in Dundee and we wouldn't be here without them.'
Keith Gilbert, Managing Director of PRS Public Performance Sales, praised The Doghouse for being voted the top music bar in Scotland this year:
