Music is good for business
Fashion retail stores all over the UK will be receiving advice on how using the right kind of music can help their business this week.
They will receive information from PRS (the Performing Right Society) which represents composers and songwriters. A leaflet and letter will show how music can be used to improve the business environment and explain how PRS Music Licences can be easily obtained.
Money from the PRS Music Licence goes back to the creators of music. These royalties are a crucial source of income for songwriters and composers.
PRS Public Performance Sales Managing Director Keith Gilbert said: ‘Many fashion retail stores recognise that playing the right kind of music can enhance the environment they provide for customers and staff and often increase profits.
The cost of playing music to create this better atmosphere is less than most people think; from as little as 32p a day. This money is paid back to the people who have created the music.’

PRS, The Performing Right Society, creating a future for music. As a non-profit making membership society, PRS ensures composers, songwriters and music publishers are paid royalties when their music is used. Music is everywhere, every day: live performance, TV and radio, CDs, DVDs, downloads, streams and everything in between. Royalties create a future for music by supporting creators while they continue to write. www.prs.co.uk
