The 53rd Ivor Novello Awards celebrate British music writing and are presented by the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters in association with The Performing Right Society. They will be held at The Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London W1 on Thursday 22nd May.

The Ivors are internationally respected as the premier award ceremony to reflect the talent of British songwriters and composers and their contribution as the creative source of the music industry’s prosperity.

THE IVORS 2008

The 53rd presentation of the Ivor Novello Awards for British songwriters & composers will be held at lunchtime in the Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House on Thursday May 22nd 2008.

The Ivor Novello Awards are internationally respected as Britain’s major platform for recognising its songwriting and composing talents. For over fifty years the Ivors have been the only annual event to exclusively honour the music writer.

The 2008 Ivors are presented by the BRITISH ACADEMY OF COMPOSERS & SONGWRITERS and are sponsored by THE PERFORMING RIGHT SOCIETY

About the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters:
The British Academy of Composers & Songwriters is the single voice for all music writers.  With over 2,000 members, it is the recognised independent trade association for UK music creators. 

The Ivor Novello Awards are the Academy’s flagship event attended by the major names in British songwriting, composing and music publishing.  Now in their 6th decade they have accurately reflected changing tastes in popular music, identifying and celebrating British music creation which continues to make a huge contribution to the international charts and airwaves and to the UK economy.  The Ivor Novello Awards have been sponsored by the Performing Right Society for more than thirty years. The Academy also annually presents the respected British Composer and Gold Badge Awards.

About Ivor Novello:
Ivor Novello, the British musician, songwriter, playwright and actor whose memory is honoured by these awards, died in 1951, hours after starring in a performance of his own King’s Rhapsody.  Novello composed some of the most popular and poignant songs of the first World War including ‘ Keep The Home Fires Burning,’ and ‘We’ll Gather Lilacs’.
