Mind Charity Shops
Keith Gilbert, Managing Director of PRS Public Performance Sales said:
'PRS has recently been in discussion with the Association of Charity Shops to agree on the fairest way to license charities for music use.
Mind independently wrote to their 100 shops requesting they switch off the radio while these discussions were taking place.
We are very happy to announce that an agreement was reached last week between PRS and the Association of Charity Shops.
The cost of a PRS licence for a charity shop is just over £1 a week.
We do not pursue back dating charges over a five year period in respect to any type of business and we would always look at each case independently based on facts, common sense and fairness.
PRS is itself non-profit making and collects money for songwriters, composers and music publishers when their works are used in public performance.'
