Q Magazine Party at SXSW 08 in association with Guitar Hero
Supported by PRS and Xtaster
Brit Award winner Kate Nash and Pigeon Detectives to headline
Q in association with Guitar Hero and supported by PRS and Xtaster will host a special, showcasing event to celebrate the best of new and upcoming British talent at SXSW in Austin, Texas on Saturday 15 March.
Brit Award winner Kate Nash and Pigeon Detectives will headline the show supported by Lightspeed Champion and These New Puritans. Akala is special guest DJ.
Paul Rees, Editor of Q said: ‘This is the first time Q has hosted a party at SXSW. As a British magazine given to extolling the best new music across all genres, it seemed only right that the bill for the event represented not only some of the UK’s best emerging talent, but that it covered a number of bases. I think bringing Pigeon Detectives, Kate Nash, Lightspeed Champion and These New Puritans together ticks both boxes, and I’m delighted our friends at Guitar Hero have helped us to do just that.’
The Guitar Hero phenomenon highlights how bands are working with new technology to create exciting new platforms and revenue streams for their music.
Myles Keller, Membership Development Director of PRS, the performing rights organisation that supports its composers and songwriters through royalty payments, said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with the Q party. PRS represents 45,000 songwriters and composers and this is an opportunity to highlight some of the very best of our new members on a global stage. With Guitar Hero 3, we are also demonstrating how the games market has become another vital revenue source for our members.’

Q showcase will take place at Austin’s Driskill Hotel Mezzanine on Saturday, 15 March from 4pm-7pm. This is a strict invite-only event.
