SCOTLAND’S TOP THREE MUSIC PUBS ANNOUNCED

Finalists for the PRS-sponsored Music Pub of the Year Award have been announced.

Held annually, the PRS Music Pub of the Year Award is one of several accolades given out during the Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN) Awards to reward excellence in the licensed trade industry. This year’s winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Thursday 25 October 2007 at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

PRS would like to congratulate the finalists; The Doghouse – Dundee, The Famous Bein Inn – Perthshire and The Jazz Bar – Edinburgh; who have proved themselves to be three of the best music pubs in Scotland.

These pubs and bars have demonstrated a genuine commitment to music as well as providing a consistently entertaining music schedule to help build their individual appeal but remaining in keeping with the type of bar and their customers.

Keith Gilbert, Managing Director of PRS Public Performance Sales, praised the finalists for being voted within the top three music bars in Scotland this year:

‘Congratulations to all of the nominees for their efforts to provide a great night out and a brilliant venue for live music.’

The Doghouse - From humble origins this venue has risen to become an integral part of the city’s vibrant music scene. The dedication of the owners has not only created a venue renowned in the music industry, but one that has helped the development of several local bands. Fully utilising the available space, the stage area combines with the décor to create an unmistakable atmosphere.

The Jazz Bar - The Jazz Bar could be used as a mould for how a venue of its ilk should look and feel. A huge array of eclectic music tastes are catered for in the long list of events that make up an average month here. The passion for music held by the owner is reflected as much in his commitment to providing a truly alternative venue, is in his work developing local musicians.

The Famous Bein Inn - A rural location in deepest Perthshire is not perhaps the first place people would look for live music, but the hundreds of people who travel to this venue each month is testament to the efforts of the owners to provide a service that is celebrated as far a field as the USA. A wide array of talent has graced the stage here, and with expansions plans underway, the future looks positive.
