PRS announces search for bands to perform at Fringe Sunday
The Performing Right Society (PRS) has announced its search for the new best bands and solo acts, giving them the chance to perform their own music live at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on Fringe Sunday.
Fringe Sunday is the family day of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and annually attracts over 200,000 visitors.
PRS are once again supporting Fringe Sunday with the PRS New Music Stage dedicated to showcasing new music.
Ellis Rich, Chairman of PRS said: 'Playing live on the PRS new music stage is a fantastic opportunity for new and emerging artists to perform their original music to the Edinburgh Fringe crowds. We are proud to continue sponsoring this great live event and would encourage as many bands and artists to enter as possible. '
Eight bands or solo acts will be selected by a panel of music industry experts to perform their own music on the PRS New Music Stage.
Many of the bands have enjoyed considerable success since their performances on the PRS New Music Stage since its launch in 2002.
The Noel Prior Band that performed on stage in 2006 said: ‘The crowd were extremely welcoming and provided an incredible reception. We negotiated a publishing deal as a direct result of playing the PRS stage, and since the event we’ve played several high profile shows and received coverage in national press.’
Hoboken, who also performed last year added: ‘From playing the PRS stage at Edinburgh’s Fringe Sunday we secured live work from promoters who attended the event. This ultimately led us to securing our first national tour.’
Media Partners Xfm Radio is proudly promoting the PRS New Music stage for the second year running. Finalists tracks will be aired on Xfm in the lead up to the event and on the day Xfm presenter Jim Gellatly will present the performances.
Applications are welcome from all genres of music and from any country. To enter applicants must complete the online form and submit URL (web address) links to sample tracks.
Applications will be accepted from 30th April until the 1st June 2007
