If you are a new PRS member, your ability to claim for past performances will depend on when the performance(s) took place and when your membership application form was received. In order to claim royalties, a performance must have taken place after your 'effective date of membership'.
How do I find out my effective date of membership?
All membership applications received in the office between 1 January - 30 June will receive an effective date of membership of 1 January; all applications received in the office between 1 July - 31 December will receive an effective date of membership of 1 July. The diagram below illustrates this:
