What’s involved in the role of Creative Manager?
‘It’s our job to listen to new songs our writers have come up with and to new demos submitted. And from that I’ll be talking to A&R people at record companies - playing new songs by our writers and trying to get cuts.
‘I make sure all the new songs our writers come up with are properly registered with our copyright department, that the royalties department are aware of any new releases so they can collect the money and I keep the synchronisation team up to date with the catalogue (old & new) so they have all the information they need when pitching music for film, TV and advertising usage. A key component of what I do is making sure our writers know what projects are out there to pitch for and setting up co-writes with other writers or the artists themselves.’

‘Hustle but don't hassle! I think it's important that writers are out there, meeting new people and making good contacts themselves without being too pushy. If they have a manager or publisher this will still apply, as it’ll back up what they are doing on behalf of the writer.’
