"As a band in the north east which doesn't play mainstream pop or rock, we thought it fairly unlikely that the smaller southern labels who are into our music would have A&R people at our gigs unless we had invited them. But we were contacted by a label executive whose Newcastle-based friend was at our launch gig. For that person’s friend to recommended us was better than sending a demo.’

“I was playing a gig in Glasgow in a bar without a PA. We had to bring everything. When we arrived everyone in the bar was fixated on a huge plasma screen showing the Celtic-Lisbon game. We were supposed to set up in front of it, but knowing that it’s best not to get between a dog and its bone, we decided to wait ‘til the game was over. With no time to set up and sound check, we thought we ended up sounding pretty gash!
But, we soldiered on and gave it our best. At the end of the gig we were all feeling low, however some people approached us for CDs. The next day we were invited to do a performance on a new show to be broadcast on BBC Scotland. We now have an excellent opportunity for some national exposure.”
