Writers (includes songwriters and composers)
A writer is the creator of an original song or piece of music. This includes writing lyrics and musical notation.
Join PRS as a writer

Music Publishers
Songwriters/composers sign deals with publishers to manage their repertoire of music. For example a publisher would be responsible for finding an artist to record a song written by one of their writers.
If you have established a music publishing company, you should join as a publisher.
