Lion King a roaring success
It has been announced that hit musical The Lion King has taken more than £1.5billion in worldwide box offices since its 1997 debut.
The London production of the musical, which features songs written by Elton John, has taken £244m at the box office just as it is set to enter its tenth successive year at the Lyceum Theatre.
The musical is an adaptation of the Disney film of the same name which was released in 1994 and broadly bases its story on William Shakespeare's Hamlet.
