PRS announces acts for Fringe SundayPRS announces line-up for Edinburgh Fringe Sunday

PRS supports new music by giving new talent a platform to perform

The Performing Right Society (PRS) is delighted to give more new talent the chance to perform in front of the Edinburgh Fringe crowds on Sunday 10 August 2008.

Five hundred musicians from across the UK applied online for the chance to perform on the PRS New Music Stage to showcase their music.

A panel of industry judges had the unenviable task of finding nine from the five hundred.

This year, they went for a selection of bands and solo performers spanning rock, folk, experimental, pop and funk.

The artists appearing on stage this year will be:

  • Dave Arcari (from Glasgow)
  • Eliza Wren Payne (London)
  • Luva Anna (Dundee)
  • Molloy (London)
  • Punch and the Apostles (Glasgow)
  • The Vibrants (London)
  • Tom Hickox (London)
  • We See Lights (Edinburgh)
  • Special International artist this year is Juzzie Smith from Australia.

Ellis Rich, Chairman of PRS said: 'PRS is proud to continue sponsoring this great live event; providing a fantastic opportunity for new and emerging artists to perform their original music to the Edinburgh Fringe crowds.'
Media Partner, XFM Radio, is proudly promoting the PRS New Music stage for the third year running. Finalists’ tracks will be aired on XFM in the lead up to the event and on the day XFM presenter Jim Gellatly will present the performances.

Many of the bands get to showcase their work in front of the biggest crowd of their careers to date.

Jim Gellatly, XFM presenter said: ‘The PRS New Music Stage is an amazing opportunity for acts to showcase at one of the highlights of the festival.’

Music News Scotland is also supporting the event for the fourth year running.

Fringe Sunday is the family day of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and annually attracts over 200,000 visitors.
