Police top chart for most misheard lyrics
The Police have taken the top spot in a survey conducted by retailer Amplifon for songs with the most frequently misheard lyrics. Sting’s song When the World is Running Down came in at number one with the words : ' You’re the best of what’s still around’ often confused with ‘You make the best homemade stew around’.
The Police also took seventh place with their 1979 hit Message in a Bottle with the lyrics ‘A year has passed since I wrote my note’ replaced by ‘A year has passed since I broke my nose’.
Other artists to feature in the top ten are U2, The Beatles and Kate Bush.
