Sergeant Pepper's drumskin goes for a song
The drumskin used on the cover of The Beatles' classic album Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band has sold for £541,250 ($1m) at auction, over four times its estimated price.
The skin was sold to an anonymous, UK-based bidder in the auction at Christies in South Kensington, London on 10 July 2008.
Also going under the hammer at the rock memorabilia auction were a rare set of lyrics written by John Lennon which sold for over £400k and a Gibson guitar once owned by The Who's Pete Townshend which fetched £32,450.
