If you need to obtain clearance for a VHS Music product please refer to the VP1 Agreement.
How to obtain clearance for the use of music in DVD, UMD and VHS products, where music is not the main focus, for retail sale.
The rights are mechanical (making copies of the music) and synchronisation (using music with audio-visuals) across DVD, UMD and VHS formats.
To apply you must email us detailing your product and we will take you through the necessary process of signing up to the scheme.

You can obtain a product clearance electronically for each AVP product you intend to manufacture and ship by contacting us at applications@mcps.co.uk or at 020 8378 7500.
If you are unable to use this method then please use the Notification of Intended Release Form.
Products are subject to prior approval with the following exceptions:
- Music videos, live concert footage, artist related images or interviews with related parties
- Visuals already cleared for other usages (incl. TV productions)
- Sports footage or children's programming of a non-contentious nature (incl. fitness videos)

The MCPS Claim =
Aggregate duration of music in the main production, menu and special features
total aggregate linear running time of the main production, menu and special features.
Form sent to MCPS detailing releases ---> Clearance granted.
You must inform us of all shipments made (minus returns) within 21 days following the end of each relevant calendar quarter using a Statement of Shipments form.
Commercial music used in a way considered prejudicial to the public view of the composer, artist or copyright owners. Recordings of shows or excerpts from shows.
Any game content, whether it has been specially produced for the product or not.

From 1st January 2006 all future sales of products cleared under the VP1/2 agreements will be processed under the AVP scheme. The only products cleared under the VP1/2 agreements are music videos which do not fit under the AVP or DVD1 agreements.
