How do you apply to the scheme?
To apply to the scheme you must complete the JIL Application Form along with the noted paperwork and send to MCPS Licensing as addressed on the form. Your application will be considered and you will be notified of your acceptance onto the scheme along with any payment terms.
Once admitted onto the scheme, do you have to apply for individual product clearances?
The product needs to be legally licensed in the territory of manufacture, however you will be required to send in a label copy of the product prior to import.
Details of your imported products will be required on your quarterly Statement of Imports (SOI).
How much do you pay?
Royalty rates cover both the mechanical and original sound recording rights.
For products where there is no use of the original sound recording half the royalty rate will be charged except in the case of karaoke products where the rate is higher due to use of graphic rights, so £1.15 will be collected.
