The World of Music

Established in 1914, the Performing Right Society (PRS) is a non profit member organisation of composers, songwriters, authors and publishers of music of all styles - including classical, pop, and jazz as well as music for films, advertisements, radio and TV. The essential function of PRS is to collect royalties on behalf of its members and those of affiliated societies worldwide.

Through a network of reciprocal agreements with affiliated societies the PRS represents the majority of copyright music from countries all over the world. Music composed by writers from countries on the list below forms "the PRS repertoire". In the UK a PRS licence gives the right to use any music from this huge collection.
