What rights are covered in the licence?
This is a joint MCPS and PRS licence, allowing you to reproduce and store music in the form of ringbacks and to stream them to the public. The ringback licence does not cover any permanent download that may be kept by the caller.
How do you apply for the scheme?
To apply for Joint Ringback Licence you must complete a hard copy of the application form and return it to us by post, at: Online Licensing, 5th Floor BMH, 29-33 Berners Street, London, W1T 3AB
How much do you pay?
Royalty rates are calculated as a percentage of Gross Revenue generated by the service and are set as follows:
• Non-returnable advance of £1,000 (+VAT)
• 15% of gross revenue from the service (including any subscription or recurring charge for accessing the service)
• Minima of £0.15 per Ringback tone

How does the reporting process work?
You must submit a fully completed Accounting and Reporting Statement within 31 days of the end of each quarter.
What does the scheme exclude?
• Sound recordings
• The use of music with any advertising or sponsorship
• The use of unauthorised arrangements, adaptations, parodies, burlesques and dramatico-musical works
• Music used in a context that is derogatory to the writer or the performer of the music.
• Moral rights
• All other types of online and mobile content, including Ringtones for which there is a separate MCPS-PRS Joint Ringtone Licence
• Graphic rights (where the words of the song are graphically represented on screen)
• The ‘synchronisation’ of musical works with images
