Secondary exploitation of TV programmes

MCPS can offer blanket licences to producers and distributors of UK-originating television programmes, covering the reproduction of music in copies of programmes containing MCPS members' music when supplied for various forms of secondary exploitation around the world e.g. broadcast on TV channels and use as in-flight entertainment.

  •  It provides a flexible and inclusive licensing solution, which removes the requirement to secure ongoing clearances of music works. It also removes the need for the negotiation of additional 'mechanical' licence fees and terms each time a production is to be further exploited.
  • Licence fees are calculated as a percentage of sales revenue and are reflective of the level of music content.

N.B. The MCPS secondary exploitation licences do not cover restricted acts undertaken by the recipient of the programmes - e.g. the broadcast or communication to the public of music contained in the programmes or any additional copying of music made or authorised by the recipient.
