What is the Limited Manufacture Licence (LM)?
The Limited Manufacture (LM) Licence is an affordable, easy to buy and simple solution for customers wishing to produce small scale audio and audio-visual physical products (e.g. CDs, DVDs and CD-ROMs). It is aimed at customers like schools, churches, amateur groups and private users who wish to use music in their own productions. Customers can sign up for a My MCPS-PRS online account, provide details of the product that the music is to be used in, pay and obtain their licence certificate, all in a matter of minutes.

What rights and formats are covered under the licence?
The LM licence covers the recording of MCPS members’ music onto audio and audio-visual productions. Formats covered under this licence are CD, cassette, minidisc, vinyl, DAT, DVD, Blu-ray disc, HD-DVD, VHS, CD-Rom or any other physical format notified by us. The LM licence will not be available to record companies.
The LM licence does not cover all the rights that you might need to produce and distribute your product. For example, if you are using 'dramatic music' on your product (such as a ballet, musical or opera ), you will need to secure the grand rights directly from the owner of those rights before licensing the musical work with MCPS. For more detailed information on our members' music, what rights are covered and to determine whether you are eligible to apply please read the Limited Manufacture Licence Guide
The LM licence is not available to Record Companies and excludes products distributed by a third party.
